Resources: Dental Issues for Survivors

Although I posted these links in my Resource Page tittled Healing from Child Sexual Abuse in February, I wanted to create a separate links page on dental issues for survivors. I was concerned that the resources might be lost in the larger page and wanted to mention how common dental anxiety and problems are for survivors. I have met several survivors who mentioned they had not realized this was a common issue.  It is.

First:

Survivor Resource Pages (Forty pages of resources, non-profit organizations, articles, and healing support for survivors of child sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, and dealing with the aftermath of child sexual abuse.)

  1. Oh my gosh i read everything in the links about the dentist. This was so helpful to just not feel alone and like a big baby. I also have trouble with brushing my teeth, but it’s not a gag reflex thing it gives me terrible chills, so the only way I can do it is with an electric toothbrush, then I’m okay. Thank you!

    • Hi,

You are welcome. So glad that the articles came to you at an opportune time. I have the gag reflex issue, but my brushing issues are not just about a strong gag reflex. I use an electric toothbrush and that has helped me a lot to get around the issues.

Good and healing thoughts to you.

      Kate
