Healing Quotes 585

Healing Quotes 584

“He showed the words “chocolate cake” to a group of Americans and recorded their word associations. “Guilt” was the top response. If that strikes you as unexceptional, consider the response of French eaters to the same prompt: “celebration.”

Have a little celebration today!

Happy National Chocolate Day

Today is National Chocolate Day.

Oh my goodness, I love chocolate. For almost ten years now I make a chocolate New Year’s Resolution. It is: eat more chocolate. I don’t think chocolate is better than love or that it even makes you feel the same as when you are in love, but it is pretty great nonetheless. Love, to me, is so much better. But chocolate comes in as a great second place to love.

This time of year, I usually have lots of chocolate, usually starting early in October. But, unfortunately my hiatal hernia has been worse and chocolate is one of the foods I am supposed to avoid. I can really tell after I’ve eaten it, that I shouldn’t have. Consequently I have been avoiding chocolate. I was recently at a Halloween party and only had one piece of chocolate candy and then later some mini gluten-free chocolate chip cookies. That is the most chocolate that I have had in weeks. And I haven’t bought any bags of chocolate candy in honor of Halloween this year.

Since today is National Chocolate Day I decided to have some great chocolate today. As I expected, I am very excited. 🙂

Happy National Chocolate Day.

Connectedness to Chocolate

Mostly we are told that all kinds of food is bad for us. Or that it isn’t healthy. Or that we shouldn’t eat it or we should feel sinful and guilty for eating them.

I do believe that it is important to eat mostly healthy food. Healthy food can taste great and that is important and important to realize that food is not just for eating, not just for fuel. Food is for a huge number of reasons.

As well I believe it is okay, some of the time, to have fun, to indulge, to please ourselves, to eat purely for pleasure.

For me that is chocolate. Then of course there is coffee. They connect me to my life and to pleasure and happiness. Good reasons.

Oh magic beans!
