Today

Woke up in the middle of the night, all dizzy and nauseous, unable to sit up well. Knew it right away, I have an inner ear infection. There were signs of it coming along, but those signs are similar to other issues so I don’t really know until I start getting dizzy and nauseous.

I had been having headaches, but sometime the other medication I was taking over the weekend gives me headaches. Not sleeping well or enough the last five days or so. I had been forgetting obvious things, mind a little more distracted than usual. I knew that I was not well. Yesterday I woke up with my left ear hurting, but that can happen if my pillow slips out from me or isn’t plumped up enough before going to sleep. I was feeling more pain, but injured my knee a few days ago. Sometimes figuring stuff out is a hard thing, except when the dizziness comes I know what has been going on all along.

Taking it easy. Took some anti-motion sickness medication in the middle of the night and thank goodness for that. I slept as much as possible. I used some lavender essential oil on a cotton ball with some hydrogen peroxide and rubbed it around my ear and throat.  I gargled with hydrogen peroxide, that always helps. I used the peppermint essential oil to do my five breaths exercise. It is good when my stomach is upset, which is something that can happen when I get an ear infection.

I’m going to use some diluted tea tree essential oil on my throat and by both ears. Both oils are great for dealing with infections.

I will try to do some more self-care and comforting things today. I really need to look over some of the grounding and comforting articles I have listed on my Resources page and start making a list of my own. I’ll try to do some of that today, cause I need some good ideas that I don’t have to think of on my own. I’ll post about how that all goes.

  1. I have used peroxide in my ear for ear pain as well. I usually hear the bubbles while it’s working, unless my ear is really blocked, and I tip my head and leave it in there for 30-60 seconds then tip my head the other way to get it to run out. My ex-roommate said her doctor recommended it, so I think it’s safe. I haven’t had any problems and it does often fix the ear pain. Also hot compresses might help loosen things up, and eating lots of garlic (a natural antibiotic) might help.

sorry you’re fuzzy headed. Sounds yucky.

    • Hi SDW,

I usually use garlic as well. I have some at home and need to cut up a piece when I eat the next meal. It does help and my body needs all the help it can get with a compromised immune system.

One doctor told me to never put something in my ear, but I didn’t think he was a good doctor anyway, so I ignore him. I use lavender essential oil in the upper ear and since I have a long history of ear infections, anything else tends to burn inside for some reason. I used to use peroxide on an q-tip, but it started burning and I stopped being able to tolerate that several years ago. Thanks for the suggestions. 🙂

    • Thanks Warrior. I do still find that using a cotton ball with peroxide and essential oil on it rubbed on my neck and around my ear does help me to heal. Thankfully. Thanks so much for looking this up. I appreciate it.

Good and healing thoughts to you.

  2. I recently discovered that coconut oil is an incredible natural antibiotic — it can be warmed and placed in the ear with a dropper, as you would do with olive oil. It’s gentler than tea tree oil, if you ever find that the tea tree starts to irritate your skin.

    • Hi David,

Thanks! I will have to get some of that. I usually use the lavender inside, just on a q-tip, more seems to be too much for me. I get irritated so easily, and when sick, even more so, especially on the nauseous scale. And then tea tree or lavender on the outside with some hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball, but with the tea tree, I reek, but tell myself it is for a good cause. I will definitely try the coconut oil.

      Thanks for the healing help.
