My Poetry

little girl

little girl
so precious
so pure
little light
in eyes
shining bright
mother blocks
the light
from reaching
little girl
drowns the light
inside her eyes
lights a fire
of rage in
little girl’s heart
years later
light still
burning bright
little girl inside
the big girl
still so precious
still so pure

  1. This is very powerful (both in stance and in effect) and clearly-stated. I think a lot of people who were wounded as children could relate to this — not just DIDers, but anyone who was abused by a parent.

  2. Hi David,

I agree with you. I think that so much of abuse is about what it does to our self-perceptions. Being able to see that precious girl was a huge healing leap for me.

Good and healing thoughts to you.
