Sexual Abuse a Prior Condition

Contains swearing.

I was watching a news program a few nights ago. I couldn’t talk about it then. I was numb for a few days about it. Apparently in some states sexual abuse is allowed to be considered a prior condition by insurance companies as a reason to deny reimbursement for health bills, including mental health bills.

Those who are victimized by rape and domestic  violence are allowed to be discriminated against by being denied care and reimbursement.  Next they will try to deny coverage for a client who has a history of child sexual abuse. It makes me wonder who will stand up for all of us and why they haven’t stood up yet.

All I gotta say is motherfuckers. The insurance companies in those states who get away with this, motherfuckers. The state legislatures in those states who let those insurance companies get away with this, motherfuckers. The national legislatures who let those insurance companies get away with this, motherfuckers. I am embarrassed that any of you can exist and that you pretend to be human beings. You aren’t. You are motherfuckers. Pass the health care reform so that you can pretend that you are human beings once more.

  1. How is this sh*t being allowed to happen in our country? I don’t recognize America anymore, God help us all….

By the way, after the inital shock of seeing you use the word motherfucker I felt refreshed and liberated! The yin and yang of Kate “good and healing thoughts” vs “motherfucker”… You are a very well-balanced woman. I can’t wait until I can walk in my duality with confidence.

Thank you simply for being you!

    • Hi Phoenix,

Thanks. Your comments really touched me. I believe that it is necessary to get mad in order to heal, in every thing. Thanks for being here. You are an incredible and exceptional woman. I hope that you will see that as you are healing. Good and healing thoughts to you.

  2. WOW!!! Rape is a condition now huh? My goodness gracious.

What goes through my head is this…..we take a woman or man who has been violated then we add stigma to their name. We’ll withhold real justice by letting their attacker out on “good behavior” then to add insult to injury we’ll deny them insurance so that they can’t get good health care for diabetes, heart disease and age related illnesses.

It has become more and more evident that rapists take more than the body and mind. They will get out of prison but for us it is clearly a life sentence.

  3. Motherfuckers indeed. I can’t believe this. I especially can’t believe this from a country that preaches to the rest of the world how to conduct itself. Motherfuckers.

    • Hi Kerro,

There have been some that have been saying that we have the best health care in the world. Which is a total lie. Those parrots on the 24 hour cable shows are motherfuckers. We spend three times as much per person, as other industrialized countries, to not even serve all our citizens, based on current statistics. It is just wrong. I’m sick of the wrong kind of patriotism. Motherfuckers.

Good and healing thoughts to you.

    • Hi,

We have a lot to do to change our country for the better. And we have to stop pretending we are the best and instead be the best. Oh, yeah, but that takes hard work. I love my country, but it is not a blind obedience to all that is wrong kind of love.

Good and healing thoughts to you.

  4. Oh, I am so upset by this. It proves my point tho, that the law doesn’t go after the perps, they try to sweep up the “dirt” they leave behind. Child molesters should get the death penalty, then they could spend the money normally used on the care of them in prison, to help those who have been harmed.

  5. Hi, Kate –

Well, that is one way to cut expenses for health insurance carriers . . . I guess that would cut expenses by about half.

Thanks for calling our attention to this . . .

    • Hi Marie,

There has apparently been a lot of things allowed by our legislatures for some time that has allowed companies to do as they please. And this is the result. I hope it truly changes, because clients deserve to get services that they are paying for. Part of the proposed health care reform bill is to eliminate prior conditions by health insurance companies. It should have been done more than twenty years ago.

Good and healing thoughts to you.

  6. You know, I had heard about domestic violence being a pre-existing condition for insurance companies to base denial of coverage on, but not sex abuse. Wow. Our world really is disgusting. This situation reminds me of a quote: “Those who put others’ eyes out also reproach them for their blindness.”

    • Hi Butterfly,

I suppose I should be glad that child sexual abuse has not become a prior condition. Though they are heading in that direction. That is an appropriate quote. Blaming us for what someone else did, how truly pathetic.

Good and healing thoughts to you.
