Happy Birthday Baby!

Happy Birthday to Me.

Unwritten

Artist: Natasha Bedingfield

I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We’ve been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can’t live that way

  1. Happy Birthday! This song is like one long, beautiful affirmation. Thanks so much for sharing it. I found myself singing along. I’ve heard snippets of it but had no idea the words were so good. Thanks!

    • Hi,

      Thank you.

Yeah, me neither. It was really only two days ago that I really listened and after listening, found the lyrics online and really sang along.

It isn’t saying that my past history of abuse is nothing. It’s saying that my life, my healing and everyone else’s is more determinative of what happens here in this moment, for the rest of our lives. That I can bring powerful joy and healing into this moment, this day, right now. And I believe that. It felt like a real turning point for me in my healing.

I really like this song, a healing anthem/affirmation. I thought it fit right in with my birthday “celebration.”

The rest is still unwritten, indeed. And there’s great hope in that. You get to write the rest!

    Much love,
